Link entities with relationships
Tie any two things in your Campaign together using the relationship section on a detail page: the brass key to the deputy's desk, the deputy to the sheriff's office, the sheriff's office to the cult investigation.
Tie any two things in your Campaign together using the relationship section on a detail page: the brass key to the deputy's desk, the deputy to the sheriff's office, the sheriff's office to the cult investigation.
The brass key is hidden under the deputy's desk. The deputy works for the sheriff. The sheriff has a case file on the harbour master. The harbour master is a member of the cult. None of that is in any single field on any single editor, and yet the moment a player follows one thread, you want every other thread the GM has already written to be one click away.
That's what relationships are for in Wyrdli. Every entity in the Campaign has a relationship section where you can pin connections to other entities, and those connections then surface as chips, mentions, and graph views wherever they're relevant.
Two things in the Campaign should be tied together: an NPC owns an Item, a Clue is hidden at a Location, an NPC is a member of a Faction, a Threat targets a particular PC.
This is the path you'll use most. Every detail page (NPC, Location, Faction, Clue, Scene, Secret, Threat, Item, PC) has a Relationships section at the bottom, with a "+" button to add a new link.
Open the detail page of either side of the relationship. It doesn't matter which one you start from; the link appears on both sides.
Scroll to the Relationships section. Click the "+" button.
A search picker opens. Type the name of the thing you want to link, narrowed to entities inside this Campaign.
Pick the target. The link is created immediately and the new chip appears in the section.
To remove a relationship later, hover the chip and click the delete control. The relationship is removed from both sides.
Some links live in dedicated fields on an entity's editor, because they're load-bearing for how the entity behaves. These are not in the Relationships section; they're in the editor itself.
A Clue's sources and "leads to" fields. The Clue editor has dedicated pickers for where the Clue comes from (NPC, Faction, Event, Location) and where it points (Location, Secret, Event, NPC, Item, Faction). These are the canvas-relevant connections.
A Scene's Location anchor and Tension NPCs. The Scene editor has a Location selector and a Tension list. These are required for the Scene to play.
A Goal's owner. Every Goal is owned by exactly one NPC or one Faction. The Goal editor enforces the choice.
A Threat's Goal and target NPCs. The Threat editor has pickers for the Goal it derives from and the Scenes it can manifest in.
An NPC's Faction memberships. The NPC's Factions list and the Faction's NPCs list mirror each other: add from either side and the affiliation appears on both.
A Location's parent. Set on the Location editor itself, not in the Relationships section.
When the link belongs to one of these dedicated fields, use the field. The Relationships section is for connections that don't fit the structured slots: an NPC who knew the victim before any of this started, an Item the party has used to bribe someone, a Faction that owes the sheriff a favour.
Once a link exists, Wyrdli surfaces it in three places:
As chips on the detail page, grouped by the target's type. Click a chip to jump to that entity's detail page.
In mention pickers. Typing @ in any description searches the same set of entities, biased toward ones already linked to whatever you're editing.
On the Canvas, where the Clue-driven relationships (sources, "leads to") draw the actual lines between Locations.
