Clue
A Clue is a piece of evidence the party finds: a torn letter, a body, a story from an NPC. Clues lead the party from one place to another and point toward Secrets.
A Clue is a piece of evidence the party finds: a torn letter, a body, a story from an NPC. Clues lead the party from one place to another and point toward Secrets.
A Clue is the evidence the party encounters. A physical thing (a torn letter on a desk, a body in the alley, a strange mark on a wall) or information from an NPC (a frightened witness, a careless bartender, a story told over wine). The Clue is the evidence itself, not the realisation that follows from it. The realisation belongs to the players; Wyrdli gives you the evidence to drop in front of them.
A Clue's job is to lead the party from where they are to another Location or Scene, and to point toward a Secret.
Open the Campaign's Clues tab and click "+ Add Clue", or use the Clues section on a Location, Scene, or Secret's detail page. The editor opens. Fill in:
A title for the Clue. Concrete enough that you'll recognise it later in a list. The burned letter, The brass key, The foreman's wife.
A description: what the Clue is, what the party learns from it, where it leads. Write it for yourself at the table, not for the players.
The Locations the Clue lives at. A Clue can sit in more than one place if it makes sense (the same rumour might surface at the bar or at the church).
The NPC who carries it, if it's a Clue the party gets by talking to someone.
The Secrets the Clue points toward. A Clue can point at more than one Secret.
The Scenes that activate the Clue. The Clue only enters the party's reach once one of those Scenes has been played.
On the Canvas, Clues show up as labelled lines between the Locations they connect. Click a line to open the Clue and adjust it. This is where you check that an arc has more than one path into it, and that no Clue is dangling without a Scene to activate it.
At the table, when you play a Scene in the Play view, the Clues that Scene activates appear in the cockpit's clue tray. Drop one in front of the party when the moment is right; mark it found when they pick it up.
