This glossary is the canonical name and meaning for every term Wyrdli surfaces, in the UI, in Discord, and in the rest of the help. When two articles disagree, this one wins.
Advancement point. A point a player can spend to raise one of their Character's attributes by one tier. Every Session that ends grants one advancement point per Character. See Event.
Artwork. An image you upload and attach to a Character, Location, Scene, or Session. Artworks live in the gallery on the Artworks page and are global, reusable across Campaigns.
Attribute. One of the named ratings on a Character (Investigation, Resolve, Brawn, Stealth, and so on). Higher tiers mean better rolls.
Bot, the. The Wyrdli Discord bot. Players and the GM talk to Wyrdli in Discord by running slash commands the bot exposes.
Campaign. The top-level container for one story. Everything in Wyrdli belongs to exactly one Campaign: Sessions, PCs, NPCs, Locations, Secrets, Clues, Scenes, Threats, Goals, Events, Items, Recordings.
Canvas, the. The visual editor for one Secret's discovery network. Locations as nodes, Clues as the lines between them, Scenes anchored where they happen. Used for prep.
Character. The mechanical record sheet a player owns: attributes, advancement points, strikes. The Discord slash commands operate on this.
Chokepoint. A Scene that many Clue chains depend on. If it's removed or stays unplayed, several discovery paths break. Flagged by scenario health.
Clue. A piece of evidence the party finds: a physical thing, or information from an NPC. Clues lead the party from one place to another and point toward a Secret. They become available once a Scene that activates them is played.
Debrief. The structured post-Session debrief, generated from the Transcript after the Session ends. Part of the recap.
Discovery graph. The network of Secrets, Clues, Locations, and Scenes that defines how the party learns things. The Canvas and scenario health both read this graph.
Discovery network. The slice of the discovery graph for one Secret. The Canvas shows one of these at a time.
Empty Location. A Location with no Clues and no nested children. Flagged by scenario health.
Event. An entry in a Character's advancement log. One Event per advancement point spent.
Faction. A group of NPCs with shared interests: a guild, a noble house, a cult. Factions have their own Goals and Threats.
GM. Game master. The owner of a Campaign on Discord; the only user who can run GM-only commands (/recording start, /recording stop, /gm strike, /gm heal, /gm session end).
Goal. The standing want of an NPC or a Faction. Goals generate Threats and are the source of the Tension that makes a Scene play.
Graph tab. A tab on every entity's detail page that shows the network of links between that entity and the rest of the Campaign.
Item. A narratively-significant object in the story: an heirloom, a sealed letter, the smoking gun. Items can also be Clues; the Item is what it is, the Clue is what it represents.
Knife. A detail from a PC's backstory that the GM can turn on the character to make a Scene personal: someone they love, an enemy, a debt, a secret. A Knife belongs to one or more PCs and counts as used once it's in a Scene. GM-only.
Location. A physical place in the story. Locations nest (a basement inside a tavern inside a city) and can carry a map artwork.
NPC. Non-player character. A character driven by the GM. The most important pieces in Wyrdli's model; almost everything else hangs off them.
Orphan Scene. A Scene that no Clue chain reaches. The party will never have a reason to play it. Flagged by scenario health.
PC. Player character, in the GM-facing sense: the GM's narrative handle on a player's Character, used to attach them to Scenes, relationships, and notes. Distinct from the Character sheet the player owns.
Play view. The GM's working surface at the table, opened with "Run session" on a Campaign. Where the Canvas is for prep, Play view is for play.
Recap. The AI-generated narrative summary of a Session, written from the Transcript. Comes with a list of Events and a structured debrief.
Recording. The audio capture of a Session. The GM starts and stops a Recording from Discord; the file (and its stems) appears on the Session's page.
Relationship. A named link between two entities. An NPC "rivals" a Faction, an Item is "owned by" a Character.
Run session. The button on the Campaign that opens the Play view for the current Campaign.
Scenario health. The Campaign health dashboard. Reports five checks: under-clued Secrets, orphan Scenes, chokepoints, unactivated Clues, empty Locations.
Scene. A unit of play that happens at a Location. Carries a Tension (often what an NPC wants) and activates Clues when it's played.
Secret. A whole story arc, the layered hidden truth the party is gradually uncovering. Not a single fact; the shape of "what's really going on here". Clues point toward Secrets.
Session. One sitting at the table. An anchor for the Recording, the Transcript, the recap, and the advancement earned that night.
Stem. One audio track inside a Recording, usually one per Discord voice participant. Stems can be retried or cleaned up individually.
Strike. A point of damage applied to a Character by the GM with /gm strike. Three strikes leaves the Character critically wounded; /gm heal removes strikes.
Template. The default document for new entities of a given kind. Its content is a structured document of headings and italic AI-instructions; when you ask the AI to fill the Template, it replaces the instructions with generated content. Global, not Campaign-specific.
Tension. What an NPC present in a Scene wants to achieve. Tension is the active force inside the Scene; it can also be a Faction agenda or a ticking clock. A Scene without Tension is description, not a Scene.
Threat. Something an NPC or a Faction wants to do to the party. Threats come from Goals; the GM keeps a pool and drops one into a Scene when the tempo calls for it.
Transcript. The text version of a Recording, generated automatically. Each utterance is a timestamped segment. The Transcript is what the AI reads to produce the Session recap.
Tutorials, How-to, Reference, Explanation. The four kinds of help article. Tutorials walk you through a first-time path; how-tos walk you through a specific task; references list what a thing is; explanations talk about why and how things fit together.
Unactivated Clue. A Clue that no Scene activates. The party will never have a way to find it. Flagged by scenario health.
Under-clued Secret. A Secret with fewer Clues pointing at it than the party can realistically uncover. Flagged by scenario health.
Voice channel. The Discord voice channel the bot joins when you run /recording start.
