Item
An Item is a narratively-significant object: an heirloom, a sealed letter, the smoking gun. Items can also be Clues; the Item is the thing, the Clue is what it represents.

An Item is a narratively-significant object: an heirloom, an artifact, the smoking gun, a sealed letter, a recovered weapon. Items are the things worth tracking individually. Wyrdli doesn't model generic inventory (rations, rope, ammunition); if it isn't worth a paragraph, it isn't an Item.
An Item can also be a Clue, but the two concepts are distinct. The Clue is what the object represents (the evidence it provides, the lead it opens), and the Item is what it is (the physical thing the party found, carried, hid, or gave away). The same torn letter can be both: the Item is the paper, the Clue is the lead it provides to the cult's safehouse.
Artwork is a separate, smaller concept; covered briefly at the end of this article.
Open the Campaign's Items tab and click "+ Add Item". The editor opens. Fill in:
A name for the object, the one that shows up in the Items list.
A description: what it is, what it does, what it looks like, what's notable about it.
An optional owner, the Character who currently has it.
An optional Location, the place it sits at when no one is carrying it.
If the Item is also a piece of evidence the party will find, open the matching Clue editor and link the Item there. Modelling them separately lets you track the letter as an object (where it is, who has it, when it surfaces again) without conflating that with the narrative path it opened.
The Item detail page shows the object's current owner, where it lives when no one has it, and the relationships pointing at it (the Clue it represents, the Scenes it surfaces in). Update it as the Campaign moves; an Item changing hands is often a memorable beat.
In Play view, Items aren't on the main surface but you can pull one up with Cmd+K search if the table asks "wait, who has the ledger?" mid-Session.
Artwork is the separate-but-related concept: uploaded images you attach to entities. A portrait for an NPC, a map for a Location, a session illustration. Artworks live in the global gallery, reusable across Campaigns, and they aren't part of the discovery graph or the play model. Upload one on the Artworks gallery page; pick one from the artwork picker inside a Character, Location, Scene, or Session editor.
