Template
A Template is the default document for new entities of a given kind. Its content is a structured document of headings and italic AI-instructions; the AI fills the instructions when you ask it to.

A Template is the default document for new entities of a given kind. There's an NPC Template, a Location Template, a Scene Template, and so on. When you create a new entity, the active Template for that kind becomes the starting content of the new entity's description.
A Template has a name, a content type (which kind of entity it's for), a content document, and a flag that marks one Template per kind as the default (the one auto-applied to new entities of that kind). Templates are global; they aren't tied to a Campaign. They're how AI generation in Wyrdli works.
The content is a structured document of headings you define ("Background", "Appearance", "What they want", "What they fear", "Threats they pose"), and underneath each heading you write italic instructions to the AI describing what that section should contain. When you ask the AI to fill the Template, it replaces each italic instruction with generated content matching the hint. The italic instructions don't survive in the output; they exist only to guide the generation.
A good Template is a prompt-engineering document. The headings shape what an entity looks like in this Campaign's voice; the italic hints shape what the AI writes in each section. Writing good Templates is how you teach the AI your tone.
Open the Templates list from the top-nav user menu and click "+ New Template". The editor opens. Fill in:
A name for the Template, the one that shows up in the list and in the picker.
A content type: which kind of entity this Template is for (NPC, Location, Scene, Faction, Item, Secret, Campaign, and so on).
The content document: the headings you want, with an italic AI-instruction under each one. Use real italics (*like this*); the system reads italic spans as the AI's instructions.
The default flag, if you want this Template to be the one auto-applied to new entities of its kind. Only one Template per kind can be default.
Templates are global, not Campaign-specific. A Template you write tonight applies to every Campaign you run with Wyrdli.
Two surfaces matter:
At entity creation. When you create a new NPC (or Location, or Scene), Wyrdli starts the description from the default Template for that kind. The headings are already there; the italic instructions are visible. You can write the section yourself, or click "Fill with AI" to have the model replace the italic hints with generated content.
At Campaign creation. When you create a new Campaign, you can pick a Campaign Template to seed it. The Campaign's description starts from that Template's content document.
To rewrite a Template's content, open it from the Templates list and edit the document directly. Changes apply to future entities seeded from it; existing entities keep whatever content they were created with.
