Wyrdli vs LegendKeeper: which one runs your campaign?

I built Wyrdli, so you know which side I'm on.

Which one should you use? LegendKeeper, if you want a fast, clean wiki and great maps for your world. Wyrdli, if you need a board for the next session: the secrets in play, their clues, and what the party has found.

What is LegendKeeper good at?

Getting out of your way. You open it and write. Pages link as you go, templates save the repeat work, search finds anything in a second.

Then the maps. LegendKeeper calls them "Google Maps for your world": you zoom from a continent down to a crypt, and every landmark opens its page. Plenty of GMs call it the best map system around.

Add timelines with fantasy calendars, infinite whiteboards, GM-only secrets, player permissions, real-time collaboration, sharing by web link, an offline mode that syncs later, export to several formats, and an importer from Markdown, Obsidian and World Anvil.

The complaint is the price. Someone loves it, decides it's a lot for a wiki, and moves to Obsidian (free). The free plan lets you view, export and join someone else's project. Creating your own needs Pro.

What is Wyrdli good at?

Wyrdli is built around situations, not plots: scenes the party can walk into, secrets they can find out, and clues that lead there, each carried by an NPC or an item. Open a secret and you see every clue pointing at it and who carries each one, and the campaign keeps track of what the party has found and what's still buried.

Take the sample campaign, The Dragon of Thornwick. Farms are burning, and the village blames the green dragon in the marsh. The secret: the dragon is being framed, and the baron's court wizard is paying kobolds to set the fires. Four clues point at it: lamp oil on straw that didn't catch, a healer who sees oil burns and no dragon poison, Pip (nine years old) who saw little men run to the mill, and a brass button under a charred beam.

In LegendKeeper that's a page for the secret, one each for the healer and Pip, the mill as a landmark on your valley map, and a whiteboard with an arrow from each clue. Lovely, until the first session.

In Wyrdli each clue knows its secret and its carrier. After session two, the secret shows the party found the oil, walked past Pip, and left two ways in unopened. On a whiteboard you redraw that by hand.

If your group plays on Discord, Wyrdli can also record the session and draft the recap. The AI is optional, never writes your players' characters, and the Essentials plan has none.

What doesn't Wyrdli do?

Most of what LegendKeeper does best. Wyrdli is young and small.

Maps are one image per campaign, no pins or layers. No family trees, no public world, no offline mode, no importer. No free plan: the sample campaign opens without an account, but prepping your own means paying after the trial.

What do they cost?

Prices checked on 24 October 2026 at legendkeeper.com/pricing.

LegendKeeper (US dollars, converted to your local currency):

Pro has unlimited projects, pages, maps, timelines, whiteboards, collaborators and storage, plus publishing to the web.

Wyrdli (euros):

Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Players never pay. Export works on every plan, even after your subscription ends.

Can I keep LegendKeeper and use Wyrdli too?

Yes. The world and its maps stay in LegendKeeper. The campaign runs in Wyrdli: the secrets in play, the scenes around them, what happened last session.

LegendKeeper can pull a world in from Obsidian or World Anvil. Wyrdli imports nothing. So don't move the world. Type in the arc you're running: the secret the party is circling, its clues, the NPCs holding them. Thornwick-sized, that's one prep night.

Open Thornwick, no account needed: wyrd.li/demo.

Keep drawing the valley. Let something else remember who's talked to Pip.
